The enormous, warty toad secretes a powerful hallucinogenic slime to befuddle the senses of any creatures that come in contact with it.

The toad can induce hallucinations.

Toads are represented by a light green t. When hit by a toad you begin hallucinating, much like the effects of a Potion of Hallucination; which makes everything prettier, but also makes it impossible to tell one monster from another. Each hit causes 20 turns of hallucination. The effect stacks, so if you are hit multiple times in succession, the effect will take longer to wear off.

When under the effects of hallucination, take extra caution to observe the movement of your enemies. Some enemies can be defined by their movement or habits. If a mob moves two spaces per turn and always in a linear path, it's a jackal. If it moves up to two spaces per turn, but erratically, it's a vampire bat. If it moves only one space per turn, but moves erratically, it's a member of the bloat family. If the mob is sleeping, you can safely assume that it's not a pink jelly.

Also, be aware of the fact that toads tend to show up on the same floors as acid mounds. If you are hallucinating due to a toad, and decide to attack an approaching mob, the game will NOT warn you that you're about to corrode your weapon. This is one of the easiest ways to ruin your gear if it's not properly protected.
