The following list contains monsters in gBrogue that are not available in regular brogue. Many of these are based on, or very heavily inspired from monsters in NetHack.
- Adventurer: An AI player, also with the @ symbol it drops some a random set of items
- Cute dog: ð, used to spawn with you at the start of the game; 19hp
- Goblin driver: An amber-yellow g that uses a whip. Flees when you are close. Very annoying. though not as much as conjurer
- Quivering jelly: A white J that has the ability to slow the player. 60hp. Based on NetHack's quivering blob
- Force totem: A pale green totem that casts force bolts
- Nether Jelly: Invisible jelly. 50hp, but does less damage than a pink one. Based on the NetHack variant "SLASH'EM"'s clear jelly.
- Goblin thief: a type of goblin that can steal items like monkey and imps
- Ink Eel: an eel that blinds you. doesn't do much else
- Magma Eel: Eels that dwell in magma and attack enemies at a distance
- Paralytic Bloat: A tan bloat that releases paralytic gas when exploded. Moves twice every three turns.
- Nymph: "n"; steals items and moves quickly. Based on NetHack's nymph
- Lemmer: "l"; blinds you then runs away. Might be based on NetHack's "lemur"
- Quickling: a small white q creature who moves, attacks quickly.
- Shadow Centipede: a dark c
- Dar Apparition: purple d with beckoning lightning slow flame
- Air Elemental: Elementals are represented by the E symbol. This one is white, quick and levitating, and can blink and attack with force bolt. Releases steam upon death
- Rotting hound: ð, 35hp; moves twice per turn
- Water Elemental: A dull blue E that has a pool of water wherever it goes
- Earth Elemental: A brown E that moves slowly and immobilizes its prey
- Fire Elemental: A red E. It burns unceasingly and attacks with firebolt
- Stone Golem: Identical to golem, but with a new name
- Crystal Golem: A green golem that is immune to fire
- Glass Golem: Only 10hp; but it does too mucHh damage.
- Rope Golem: 30hp; attacks with whips; does decently high damage. Explodes into ropes upon death
- Black Dragon: It breathes poisonous fumes; based on NetHack's black dragon, although thankfully it does not disintegrate you.
- Ankheg: A dark yellow capital letter A. It is an insect-like creature that sprays acid. Kind of like the upgraded version of the acid mound
- Demon-god Moloch: orange ß (accent of s, not lowercase beta.) , with an aura like an explosive bloat. Immortal. Similar to a MUCH MORE ANNOYING warden of yendor. Summons explosive bloats, rotting hounds, and possibly other creatures. Spawns on level 52, the second-to-last level. (Not level 39, which is commonly believed) Based on the NetHack god Moloch. Can cast spells, including firebolt, blinking, and beckoning. Spawns at the down staircase to level 53
- New mutations:
- Caustic: Releases caustic gas upon death. Combustible: Releases methane upon death. Can be deadlier than explosive if there is fire near the methane, because the gas can expand and create an even bigger explosion. Also the gas never dissipates so you have to explode it or risk having a monster do it for you when you are inside the gas cloud. Hallucinogenic: Induces hallucinations Berserk: Makes the monster slightly faster and always know where you are; you cannot hide from it even with invisibility. If you go down or up 2 levels from it, then you have successfully thrown it off until you return to 1 level up or down the monster's level. Flying: Gives flight. (might be in vanilla, idk) Fireproof: Makes the monster fireproof. (might be in vanilla, idk) Skeletal: Makes the monster fireproof; -10% of its max HP; and makes it animated purely by magic. The last part is irrelevant because there is no wand of negation in gBrogue. Glass: -80% of its hp; makes the monster do wayyyyy more damage; and makes the monster slower and reflective. Beguiled: -40% of its hp; makes it inflict hallucination, poison, weakness, and 2 other negative effects (i forgot)y burningN
