Late game monkey. Blinks to you, steals, blinks away. This monster won't go down to a handful of darts, so use extreme monkey tactics, like wielding/dropping whatever you don't want to lose.
A good item against imps is Wand of Beckoning, since they will lose their turn when beckoned. You'll find that anything else likely gives them a turn to blink away, avoiding its effects, including making clouds of gas under it and blinking towards it.
